Shame

Shame makes us as though we are not good enough, that we are bad. Many unable to deal with it become addicted to alcohol, aggressive, become self-destruction, bully others, gain weight and /or violent. Fundamental truths about shame are that everyone has it, we are all afraid to talk about it and that the more we don’t talk about it, the more control it has over our lives.

Myself shame has caused me to act irresponsibly and say hurtful things to those I love. Unable to talk about it with others and holding in the pain of disgust for myself has robbed me of much happiness. It kills the spirit of love. Mental and physical illness from shame is a horrible thing that lies to us and makes us think there is no way out. Suicide of my nephew showed all of us the depths someone will go to when they are in the dark space of shame. Unable to see a situation outside of yourself, only doom and angry with everyone and mostly yourself for letting you get into a situation.
